Are you wearing the wrong size bra? The answer is quite probably! According to research, up to 80% of women wear ill-fitting bras.

Here are some tips to help you figure out if you are in that 80%.

1) Your bra riding up at the back means your bra is too big.

2) Neck and back pain is a sign of a badly fitting bra.

3) Slipping straps means your bra is probably too big.

4) Wires digging in shows you are wearing the wrong size.

5) Spillage from the cups can show your bra is too small.

6) If the centre point between the cups isn’t sat flat against your body, this is a sign of an ill-fitting bra.

I cannot recommend getting fitted PROPERLY enough. By properly I mean by a trained professional, not a random member of staff in Marks and Spencer who went on a one day course 3 years ago! As much as I understand that they try to train their staff in high street stores, you cannot beat the experience and knowledge of the ladies who work in lingerie shops. I got ‘measured’ at a high street store and then got measured at a lingerie store and the size difference was ridiculous! I am lucky enough to have a specialist lingerie store practically on my doorstep and their understanding and expertise is second to none. I fully understand that some women do not have this luxury but I would recommend doing some research into finding your nearest lingerie store and getting measured there accurately, even if it means travelling a little further and taking a little extra time for yourself.

You will be surprised at how much confidence a well-fitting bra can give a woman. Not only do they improve your self-confidence, they can improve posture and how you hold yourself which in turn radiates even more confidence. And also, who doesn’t feel fantastic in a new set of lingerie?! So go on, treat yourself to a fitting and some new underwear, you won’t regret it. And if you are feeling nervous or unsure about the whole fitting experience, convince a friend or two to go with you and make a girly day out of it! Incorporate it into your next shopping day, boozy lunch or trip to the nail salon with the ladies. You will not regret it! Don’t be afraid and think, it’s just like getting measured for shoes!
