Bedroom Lingerie 101 - Styles

Recently, I’ve been doing some research amongst my friends and followers as to what lingerie they like to wear in the bedroom and their reasons behind choosing that particular type. Below is a brief summary of my findings. As you may have guessed, a lot of women have the same hang ups and body issues as the rest of us! Makes you feel better to know you’re not alone with your insecurities!

Babydolls

Some curvier women seem to prefer babydolls. Their reasoning for this is that most of them cover up the dreaded belly! A large number of women are uncomfortable with their stomach area so babydolls are a favoured bedroom essential. Covering up an area that makes women feel self-conscious helps to make them feel sexier and more confident in the bedroom. Another group of women babydolls are popular with are the bustier amongst us. A lot of babydoll style outfits are low cut and really emphasise our boobs. Another plus if you are trying to draw attention away from other areas you are less confident about.

Basques / Corsets

Corsets and basques are perfect for enhancing curves and/or putting curves in good places which is always a confidence boost! As with babydolls, they also help to cover up confidence draining bellies. Some women feel they benefit from corsets in particular as they help to push up and boost smaller boobs. They are also a sleek and sexy way to bring a burlesque feel to the bedroom. Unfortunately, corsets in particular can be uncomfortable and restricting. Movement can be limited once you are in one of these bad boys (putting shoes on is a real challenge!!) so make sure you plan ahead! When talking to others, I found that some would love to wear corsets but find them too expensive as a good quality, well-structured corset can set you back over £60.

Separates

So the main highlight of separate bra and knickers for me is the effort level needed! They are easy to get on and off and are great for those who are confident with or want to show off their mid-sections. Long – line bras and high-waisted knickers seem to be the solution for those who want to wear separates but are not as confident with their stomachs. Another plus is that they can be worn like a normal bra and knickers under clothes so can be used to tease your other half while out and about. Bralettes seem to be the new fashion but having large boobs I have never taken the plunge to try one…..until now! But I’ll save talking about that until another blog post.

Dress Up Outfits

Dress up outfits are not something I personally choose to wear but I can see what the attraction may be for some. This seems to be a category which is a partner led thing. If your partner has a uniform or nurse fantasy they want to play out then this is obviously a great, fun way to play that fantasy out. Role play also adds something different but not too serious to the bedroom. As far as body confidence goes I don’t find dress up outfits help a great deal as most are just like wearing a dress and have very little structure or support to them.

Bodystockings / Bodysuits

This is the final category that I found some friends like to wear in the bedroom. All in one bodystockings do a similar job to babydolls in the stomach department but are obviously less floaty and flowing. One upside is that they are just one piece so you do not need to think about stockings etc. (stocking issue explained in more detail below!) but do not try to put one on while drunk! Even when stone cold sober they can be tricky and confusing to get on, especially if you are not used to wearing them. Again, I have recently made my first purchase of a bodystocking and a bodysuit but there will be more details of those in future posts.

Stockings

Personally I have always found traditional stockings and suspenders combination a huge effort and difficult to get on properly. Granted, once they are on, they look fantastic but getting to that stage is easier said than done! I have tried hold ups that are supposed to stay up without suspenders but even with my thick thighs I haven’t found a pair to this day that actually do a good job. I have recently discovered a game changer however…Suspender tights! They are all in one stockings and suspender tights that (in my opinion) look just as good as the traditional suspenders and stockings but are as easy to put on a pair of tights. My prayers have been answered!

Knickers

One thing I didn’t ask my friends and followers about were knickers. Personally for the bedroom I love crotchless for 2 reasons: 1 – easy access (which makes me feel a little naughtier) and 2 – if I’ve just made the effort to put on nice lingerie I don’t want to then take it straight off again. Wearing lingerie in the bedroom make me feel sexy and confident, I don’t want to take it off and lose that feeling. But let me know what you prefer and why…crotchless or not?

These are just my own personal opinions mixed in with a small sample of other women. Obviously it is important that you choose lingerie that makes YOU feel sexy and happy!
