I haven’t spoken much on my Instagram about my pregnancy so far mainly because it all still feels rather surreal!

We went for the 20 week scan on Friday and found out we are having a BOY! I thought seeing a growing baby on the screen would make it all seem more real to me but as he was at a bad angle during the scan, it wasn’t very clear. In fact, the scan picture was just of the back of his head! I have to go back for another scan this week to get a picture they couldn’t take on Friday (due to this bad angle) so hopefully he will move into a better position for me! I think he’s just camera shy like his mum and dad.

My 20 Week Bump!

The journey so far….so here is what you have missed!

The first 12 weeks were tough. My body was changing to make way for the little bean and I was struggling to stay awake for it! I lost half a stone as there was about a 5 week period where I was having to force myself to eat even a little as I was constantly feeling sick. I was so exhausted I was falling asleep on the sofa as soon as I got home from work and the whole time I was trying not to show any changes to my work colleagues as we had agreed we would only tell very close friends and family until after the first scan at 12 weeks. Apart from sickness and tiredness I think I got through the first 12 weeks relatively unscathed in terms of symptoms. There was the odd tearful breakdown ‘because I’m pregnant and my hormones are all over the place’ but I think I have the hang of the hormones now.

I’m now, as I write this, almost 21 weeks and the symptoms that I had at first have subsided. My main nemesis now is heartburn! Orange Rennies are my new best friend and I have them stashed everywhere; my handbag, my work bag, in the car and in my desk at work. The sickness has gone and I am now at the other extreme of the scale being hungry all the time. I’ve had no cravings so far (weird or otherwise!) which is slightly disappointing to me as I was quite looking forward to sending my lovely husband out at 1am for McDonalds gherkins and Terry’s Chocolate Oranges! One of the children I work suggested that I just make up cravings so I can eat what I like!

So that is the journey of bumpy number 1 so far. He is thankfully (as far as scans etc. can detect) doing fine and I have a ‘textbook’ blood pressure. Gold star for me! We immediately, en route home from the hospital on Friday went and bought Baby Boy Bumpy (BBB) two cute sets of dungarees to celebrate us knowing! And I have been out over the weekend and bought a few (ok a lot) gender specific bits for our boy as it is still quite a novelty that we now know what sex our baby is (and also Asda had a baby event on – result!).

Baby Boy Bumpy's Celebratory Outfits!

The coming weeks will see us trying to turn our guest / dumping room into a nursery, buying things we need for his arrival (anyone who knows me will of course not be surprised that I have a colour co-ordinated spreadsheet!) and going to and from many more appointments.

I will intersperse my regular posts with Bumpy Chronicles blogs to keep you all updated on our progress.

A Good Haul From Asda's Baby Event!
